Lockdown Momento

How about creating a special Family Momento?

This is a time that will go down in history. You and your family could make a momento, mark a moment in time, with this simple salt dough recipe.

What will you need:

Ingredients for Salt Dough this size:

  • 500g plain flour

  • 250g table salt

  • 250ml water (add a little more water if needed)

  • Bake in the oven on the lowest heat for around 3 hours (this one took about 4 hours)

  • Mix the flour and the salt and add the water

  • Mix into a dough

  • Roll out onto a flat surface into the desired shape (remember to use some flour on the surface to stop it sticking!). It should be about 1-1.5cm thick

  • Place on a baking tray

  • Make your handprints (as deep and clear as possible)

  • Place in the oven on the lowest possible heat for around 3-4 hours. Alternatively, you can leave it to air dry for a few days

  • Paint with your choice of paints/ colours (I used acrylic paint)

  • Seal with any kind of varnish/sealer to preserve it (varnish/ Modpodge/PVA and water mix
